Accel Opens First Racino at Fairmount Park

Grand Opening in a Historic Setting
On April 18, 2025, Fairmount Park Casino & Racing opened its doors to the public for the first time. The facility is located in Collinsville, Illinois, on the grounds of the historic Fairmount Park Racetrack, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The combination of horse racing and casino gaming is known in the U.S. as a “Racino.” With this project, Accel Entertainment is entering this market for the first time.
Gaming Offerings and Amenities
The new casino spans approximately 1,100 square metres (12,000 square feet) and features a selection of slot machines and electronic table games. Traditional live dealer games are not currently part of the offering. The live racing season kicks off on April 22 with an opening event that includes a parachute show. Gates open at 9:00 a.m., and the first race starts at 1:30 p.m.
Dining and Events
In addition to gaming, Accel places a strong emphasis on dining. In collaboration with the Fifty/50 Hospitality Group, three new food stands have already opened. A full-service restaurant with a bar is expected to launch in June. The venue is also intended to host private parties, corporate events, and other functions in the future.
Background on Implementation
The transformation of the racetrack into a combined casino and event centre was completed in less than five months. Accel worked closely with local authorities such as the Illinois Racing Board and the Illinois Gaming Board. CEO Andy Rubenstein emphasized the support from the City of Collinsville and regional decision-makers. Vince Gabbert, General Manager of the new casino, praised the teamwork and rapid execution.

With Fairmount Park Casino & Racing, Accel Entertainment is expanding its business portfolio. Until now, the company has primarily operated in the video gaming terminal (VGT) sector.
