The Texas Sports Betting Alliance, a coalition of companies such as DraftKings, FanDuel, Fanatics, and BetMGM, supports the initiative. Spokesperson Karina Kling emphasizes that illegal sports betting is already widespread, causing Texas to miss out on tax revenue. Regulation could ensure consumer protection and bring financial benefits to the state.
Influential Supporters
Several prominent sports team owners, including Jerry Jones (Dallas Cowboys) and Miriam Adelson (Dallas Mavericks), are in favor of legalization. Adelson has already invested significant sums in lobbying efforts for sports betting in Texas. Growing industry support could increase pressure on lawmakers.
